On Saturday November 9, 2020, Dr. Bonnie Henry, Public Health Officer, outlined orders for further restrictions in Vancouver Coastal and Fraser Health.  We all need to restrict our social interactions during the next couple of weeks to do our part in helping curb the spread of Covid-19.  However, places of worship are still allowed to hold in-person gatherings.  The strict protocols by which St. Martin’s has been approved to reopen have been reviewed.

The public health authorities have been in consistent communication with our religious leaders to evaluate best practices and keep up with our expanding knowledge of this pandemic.  Everyone has a duty to keep each other safe by wearing a mask, washing hands frequently, keeping a physical distance of 2 metres, and limiting touch points to safe and sanitized surfaces.  Our safety plan at the church considers every layer of protection and has been flexible in adapting as new circumstances and advice is received.

The leadership at St. Martin’s is following all applicable orders and recommendations to keep our essential service of prayer and support open to our neighbourhood.  At this time, we can continue to offer both on-site services and links to worship events for those off-site.  We are limited in the numbers who can attend physically, and this is going to impact how services during the Advent and Christmas season will be offered.

Please continue to:

  • Do a self-health check before coming to the church.
  • Pre-register for services.
  • Reach out to others to support.
  • Keep your contacts to a minimum.

Our safety reopening plan in full is available by request from the parish office.
