“Faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things unseen” – Hebrews 11:1
Hope is on the horizon with the public health orders this week and a pastoral directive from our Diocesan Bishop John. After so many months of uncertainty, loss, and loneliness, we are looking forward to the time when we can see each other face to face. It’s going to take a little while to plan and to prepare, but have faith.
Under the current directives, the earliest Sunday that St. Martin’s can host on site worship is probably June 20, 2021. The parish leadership wants to consult you about how this might look and what we have learned. What is most important to nurture our faith as we all come back together as newcomers to the Church? How can we be understanding and respectful of people’s different readiness to engage when all of us have had unique experiences while physically apart?
Please join the conversation this coming Sunday May 30 from 2-3 pm at our Liturgy Advisory Committee meeting as we plan worship for the coming phases. The next evening, Monday May 31 from 7-8:30 pm we’ll also be having a guided conversation on our faith learnings. By June 15 we’ll hopefully have a green light from the province and the diocese to move ahead with plans. In the mean-time, now more than ever we can model kindness as we embrace the next change with confidence in the work of the Holy Spirit.
