Without wanting to second-guess the public health authorities, we at St. Martin’s are planning forward for safe ways to connect with God and each other. Both our Annual Vestry Meeting and Lenten programs are being designed with the possibility of continued restrictions on on-site gatherings. When the word comes from Dr. Bonnie Henry and our Diocesan Bishop that places of worship can re-open to the public, the St. Martin’s Liturgy Advisory Committee has agreed to make a personal phone call to you to let you know what to expect.
In the meantime:
Vestry Reports for 2020 are being emailed out today. Hard copies are available for pick-up at the office by arrangement. There will be a Financial Briefing on Sunday February 14, one week before the Annual Vestry Meeting on February 21, 2021. Both will be by Zoom.
Lenten Programs will include a down-loadable and printable home program: “Breaking the Chains” from the Salt Project. This will be sent out next week. Paper copies will be available by arrangement with the parish office.
There will also be 3 choices for evening Zoom groups, starting the week of February 21: Mondays is “Prayer Practices”, Tuesday is “the Desert Mothers” (in conjunction with St. Catherine's), and Wednesday is “Stewardship 365” (a Diocesan program). We are still finalizing worship options for Ash Wednesday, depending on public orders, but will most likely offer a morning Zoom prayers and meditations and a drive-by imposition of ashes at St. Catherine’s. Lent is a time of growing deeper in faith and exploring partnership with our neighbouring parish, so let’s see what unfolds!
Distanced outside pastoral visits are a possibility for all individuals (as well as phone calls or Zoom meetings). Please call or email me at St. Martin’s and I would be happy to arrange a mutual time with you.
